INTRODUCTION

Main Street Success
Tappahannock Main Street provides leadership, assistance and resources for the revitalization of downtown Tappahannock. Our goal is to promote the town's quality of life and unique downtown shops, while enhancing visitor experiences related to historic and cultural resources. With a strong core of dedicated volunteers over the last few years, Main Street continues to thrive, with the success of the Revitalization Plan, the Farmers' Market, the Historic District street sign initiative, and now the Tappahannock Concert Series. Thanks to our wonderful corporate and individual sponosors, without whom we could not have acheived these gains. We want your involvement and commitment to making Tappahannock great!

Why "Main Street"?
There is much that is already right about Tappahannock: its marvelous history, its charm, its small town ethic, yet there is a groundswell of opinion that we need to preserve these features and find opportunities for leveraging the other assets the community has such as the river, and enhancing and adding opportunities for businesses and amenities that will be attractive to residents, such as more public greenspace.

To that end, a group of local interested individuals have come together to explore the means to accomplish these goals.

Scope
Through several meetings and community discussion it has been decided that the geographic boundaries of the Main Street effort will encompass the area from "Creek to Creek"--that is, from Hoskins Creek to the June Parker Marina.

Phase 1 will focus on the area that comprises the original 50 acre grant.
